BAPTISM!!!!! (for reals this time)

Wowie Kazowie this week has been INCREDIBLE!!!! So many amazing things happened!!!

For one thing...WILLIE GOT BAPTIZED!!!!! On Tuesday we got a text from President that said, "Just got the go for Willie"...it was so funny. I read the text and I probably stared at it for a full 30 seconds before I fully realized what it said and I showed it to Sister Laws and she freaked out and then we were going crazy for a minute. Then we wanted to tell Willie in person and so we thought we would have to wait until Wednesday to tell him because that's when we planned on seeing him but then our evening appointment cancelled and so we went to his house...haha and we made him get out of bed so we could tell him! Haha and we talked about when we could do it and it would have either had to be Friday....or this coming Saturday and we prayed about it right there and Willie felt like it should be on Friday. So then we went into a series of about 500 phone calls on the way home to see if everything could work out. Wow it was stressful! And there were a couple of hiccups that we had to sort through but God obviously knows what He is doing and so we got it all sorted out and the baptism happened on Friday! And we got permission for him to be confirmed right after so that was good! The next couple days after that went totally smoothly. Then about an hour and a half before the baptism, that's when things started to happen (as we knew they would!). Well, first of all, there was a pretty bad tornado storm warning for most of the day and especially leading up the baptism and it was pouring rain and there was lightning and thunder and it was crazy. Then, Willie kept having little things come up right before the baptism, like the fact that as he was putting on his shoe there was a red wasp in one of them that stung him. How does that even happen?! Also, there were these people from his past calling him and saying they owed him money and he better answer his phone and stuff. Then we were having trouble with the programs and getting everything finished setting up....but then as soon as Willie got to the church then everything was smooth. The baptism probably couldn't have been more perfect! Brother Shotton baptized him and Brother Tucker confirmed. And Brother Shotton pulled me aside after and told me that when Willie got to the top of the steps after being baptized, he just started bawling and Brother Shotton just held him for about a minute until he got it together. Wow! There was seriously just such an incredible spirit there! And I'm so grateful for the opportunity I've had to teach Willie and see that change in Him, despite his rough past! That's truly what the gospel is all about - Change! Change through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

In other news...I hit my 9 month mark this week. Barf.

Okay! Here's a crazy small world moment! So you know Bobbie and Krystal? Well, we found out this week that Krystal... is Willie's dad's nurse (and Willie lives with his mom and dad and takes care of them) and also Bobbie and Willie totally knew each other years and years ago! Isn't that so weird?! Anyway that was crazy when we found out.

Guess what? A bird made a nest on our back porch thingy. We randomly have this laundry hamper our there for some odd reason...been there since I got here...and it is kind of in the corner and a bird made a nest between the wall and the hamper and totally laid eggs in it! I'll send pics. We named the mom Gina because...well that's a long inside joke...but anyway so that's pretty crazy. Dad you're probably going to be like, "Well, those are bleh bleh bleh bleh's eggs and bleh bleh bleh bleh bleh..." Haha telling me all these facts about them or something....pretty sure its a robin. She just chills in the nest....even when we open the door...so yeah that's pretty cool...and y'all can see my mad photography skills...

So here's a story! I locked us out again! When we went to work out on Tuesday, our of habit I locked the door. LUCKILY, I had the phone with us. But, the office wouldn't open until 9 and we had to be at a Zone Meeting at 10, and had to actually be there at like 8:50 because it was at our building and they were having a meeting before for trainers and stuff and so we also had to go early and then also I was playing the piano for a musical number...yeah so anyway we couldn't wait. So we called Brother Tucker who we knew had a ladder and he brought it to us and Sister Laws went through out bedroom window because we had had it open the night before so it was still unlocked....so yeah we got in....but we had to wait a while for Brother Tucker so we didn't get in until 8 so we had to rush and get ready and go to the church and then we had to go back and get Sister Laws iPad then we went back to the church and practiced for the musical number...which went super well, and then we had Zone Meeting...but it was a crazy morning! So yeah the other day we finally went and got a spare key and gave it to the Tuckers so we don't keep running into this mess! Haha it's always my fault though! :)

So we had to take this online course for Safeguards in Using Technology and they had a bunch of videos from a couple of the apostles speaking to missionaries who were using technology and since we are still going through the testing - there's probably only like a couple 1000 people who have seen the videos we watched for the apostles so that's pretty special.

Also we had interviews on Friday! (Yep, Friday was a JAM PACKED day! We were so tired by the end of the day....) Anyway we had district meeting while they were happening. It was really good. Also interviews we way good! They are just so enlightening and man MY MISSION PRESIDENT IS INSPIRED!!! Wowie. Get this: at one point he told me basically exactly the same thing that a member of the 70 said in one of his talks....and that was Friday so it was before conference...how crazy is that?! Yeah President Anderson is pretty awesome. Also here's a random funny story: as we were leaving the building, I was the last one to have my interview and President had set down his bags to turn off lights and Sister Anderson had set down a bag and so I picked them up and told them I had their stuff (and I was holding my bag and scriptures so I was holding 5 bags and scriptures) and so we go out to the car and I asked them where they wanted the stuff and President looked at all the stuff I was holding and he was like, "Sister Myers what are you doing?!" Then he laughed and he was like, "It's okay everyone I've got my phone and this piece of paper!" Haha it was so funny.

Bennie watched every single session of conference including the Priesthood session! And we weren't even there to watch it with him! :)

CONFERENCE WAS SO AMAZING!!!! :)
Okay I just have to say that this conference, for me, was different from the others in such in incredible way!!! I'm not exactly sure why....but well, this time I think I just really was able to learn from the Spirit. Previously when I have listened to conference I've just taken notes and had talks that I really liked and I would be like, "Oh that was a really good talk." And then I would maybe have like 1 or 2 that really spoke to me but this conference I'm pretty sure I learned something specifically for me out of basically every single one of them! Wow I just loved SO many of the talks I don't even know how I could talk about them! And I don't even know if I made sense....

First off....85,141 missionaries...and I'm one of them! (I hope that was the right number haha)

Anyway...oh I just don't even know where to start:

Henry B. Eyring: He just put fasting and fast offerings into a whole different light! I have paid my fast offerings each fast sunday but it just made me think about them differently! Also my friend Sister Giles is in Vanuatu on a mission and I remember in her letter her writing about the cyclone...but luckily she was not in the midst of it. So yeah that was interesting.

LInda K. Burton: This one was really interesting to apply to myself as a missionary and having a missionary companion. I was just thinking about how if everyone followed the 5 questions that she gave then there really wouldn't be any problems in any missionary companionship. Especially when we seek to complete rather than compete

Dallin H Oaks: I especially loved this one because I have never really seen the Parable of the sewer (sower?) in this way and detail. It's interesting because at our zone meeting a member of the stake came and spoke to us about this same Parable but talked about a totally different aspect of it and we have just heard this parable over and over lately but each time we've heard it it's been different and so I was just thinking about how we will always get different things out of the scriptures and there are so many different meanings to the Jesus Christ's parables and it made me want to study them more!

David A Bednar: Wow this one was just so cool. I had never thought of Godly Fear as something so good and something so....well he said it's what gives of peace and assurance...but it's interesting to think that Godly Fear is what gives us that....I don't know if that made sense but that was just a sort of mind blowing talk that I had never even thought of!

Wilford W. Anderson: The analogy of the music and the dance. Wow that was just incredible! I was just riveted! Probably because I am very musical so it made a lot of sense in that way but Wow I just loved it!

Dale G. Renlund: First off, I have met him personally when he came to our mission a while back so it was cool to hear from him. Also, he said a couple of times "God doesn't care who you were, he cares who you are becoming" or something along those lines and it's interesting because when we was here at our Zone Conference he probably said that about 15 times or different variations of that. So that was cool to hear it again. I also just loved the rest of the talk. It was something that I needed to hear. Just that we all progress at different levels and we have to be kind, patient, supportive and understanding of those who are trying to overcome their personal difficulties because all God asks of us is that we try!

Gerald Causse: I loved this one! I just kept thinking to myself about how, "is the gospel still wonderful to me?" Also it's interesting because we were kind of talking about this at zone meeting this week too. We were talking about how we always need to be increasing our testimonies every single day and having recent experiences where we have gained more testimony and we were specifically talking about the Book of Mormon but it could be applied to all aspects of the gospel. Anyway, so that was interesting to see how that came up again.

Jeffrey R. Holland: Oh I just loved this talk. It was SO touching to me. I just kept thinking about how Jesus Christ knows us. Like the little brother in the story he told, Jesus Christ knows what we will do and he is standing right there to help us when we are slipping. That wasn't necessarily when Elder Holland was talking about but that's what I was thinking.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf: Wowie his talk was just so good I don't even know where to start! It was just a really interesting twist I guess you could say on keeping the commandments and Grace and it was just a really incredible talk! Oh I just loved it.

Okay I'm just going to be done now or this is just going to go on and on and on and on and on. I just loved SOOOO many talks! And I haven't had the chance to watch the Priesthood session yet and I didn't even talk about the General Women's session! Gah! Conference was just sooooo good! Anyway, I'm going to end now before y'all die at how long this email is. Sorry I just couldn't stop! :)

Love y'all lots!!!
Love,
Sister Myers
